What is Grounding?

Grounding, also known as earthing, is the simple act of connecting your body to the Earth. This can happen when you stand barefoot on natural ground or use a grounding product, such as a pad that’s connected into the Earth. When you make contact, a transfer of electrons takes place—your body begins to absorb the Earth’s electricity, creating beneficial changes in your system that support vitality.

How Did We Get Disconnected?

Since the invention of rubber-soled shoes, we’ve become disconnected from the Earth’s surface. These shoes act as insulators, preventing the natural balancing action that used to occur more often in our daily lives. As a result, we build up positive electric charges in our bodies. Without grounding, these charges can’t be neutralized.

But when we connect to the Earth, something beautiful happens. Negative electrons are absorbed into our system, neutralizing those built-up positive charges and restoring internal balance.

Why Does This Matter?

These Earth-derived electrons function as natural antioxidants. They help neutralize free radicals—those pesky, positively charged particles that, if left unchecked, can damage cells and contribute to inflammation, poor sleep, and imbalances in our emotional and physical health.

Some of the reported benefits of consistent grounding include:

  • Improved sleep quality
  • Enhanced wound healing
  • Reduction in inflammation

My Experience

Even though I spend a lot of time in nature, I discovered I wasn’t getting enough direct connection. So I made a small investment in a grounding pad (a link to purchase is below).

Within a couple of weeks, I noticed deep shifts—more restful sleep, calmer thoughts, fewer food cravings, and a quieting of anxious feelings. My Body Balancing clients also noticed shifts—freer movement, more ease. It was as if two versions of themselves were present: the one on the pad and the one off of it.

And yes—it felt almost too simple to make such a difference. I almost brushed it off. But I’ve learned to pay attention to the simple things. We are nature. And nature has a rhythm, a flow, a wisdom.

In reconnecting with the Earth, I reconnected with myself. And the partnership with Mother Earth—the one we all depend on—has been restored in my life.

The Takeaway

The return on investment in something like a grounding pad is profound. The benefits ripple through your sleep, your thoughts, your body, and your being.

Happy earthing, fellow human being.

The Waiting Paradox

The Waiting Paradox

True power lies not in ceaseless motion but in the intentional pause that sharpens our aim. By waiting with purpose, we break free from passive drift and align our next steps with deeper clarity and resilience.

Means Goals vs. End Goals

Means Goals vs. End Goals

We’ve been taught to chase goals that look good on paper—but what if they’re not leading us where we truly want to go? This reflection explores the difference between means goals and end goals—and why knowing the difference changes everything.

From Poor You to Power in You

From Poor You to Power in You

We don’t need to pity those who’ve endured trauma—we need to witness them with reverence. There is nothing “poor” about someone who survived; there is power in them that deserves to be seen.
